All our SAR mounts are adopted BLM mustangs. Our primary goal is to provide the wild mustang a purpose promoting longevity after initial adoption challenges. Occasionally we have mustangs available for adoption after training to approved homes.

Cooper
Cooper is a branded BLM mustang, HMA unknown. Jeff Cook (Dream Horse AZ) donated Cooper to Melissa Schmalhorst through a veteran program. Cooper is a certified Search & Rescue horse through NASAR, and trained in equine scent detection. He was first place during the American Equine Scenting Association trial.

Damn Daniel (Danny)
Danny is from Arapaho Creek HMA, Wyoming. He was adopted by Melissa Schmalhorst during the 2023 San Antonio Wild to Mild TIP Challenge. Danny is trained for Search and Rescue, and competes in EXCA (Extreme Cowboy Racing).

Reginald (Regi)
Regi was Melissa's TIP Challenge horse for the 2023 San Antonio Wild to Mild TIP Challenge. He was 4th overall, and Grand Champion at the open show with Kate Sommer. He was adopted by Kate Sommer and is in training for SAR and English performance.

Zorro
Zorro is from Arapaho Creek HMA, Wyoming. He was a 2023 San Antonio Wild to Mild TIP Challenge Mustang. He is owned and trained by Krystal Cates. He is trained for Search and Rescue and competes in ranch riding, and EXCA (Extreme Cowboy Racing). He was 3rd place overall at the EXCA New Partner World Show!

Timber is a BLM wild mustang from Nevada in training. More info coming soon.
Poquito
Poquito is a BLM burro from Arizona. He is the ambassador of STMSAR. He was the Reserve Champion at the 2024 San Antonio Wild to Mild TIP Challenge shown by Krystal Cates. Poquito continues his journey with STMSAR assisting with fundraising events, providing education to the public, and donkey loving therapy.
